Welcome to the InSmile Braces blog. This is our very first post, and we couldn't think of a better place to start than right here, marking one year since we relaunched.
One year ago, InSmile Braces welcomed its very first cases back into treatment.
It's hard to believe how far we've come since then, so we wanted to take a moment to look back at how this year unfolded and thank the providers and patients who made it possible.
In April 2025, InBrace, a leading lingual orthodontic company, unexpectedly ceased operations. Providers across the country were left without a system for patients already mid-treatment, and patients were left wondering what would happen to their care. Rather than let that technology disappear, Dr. Scott Schwartz purchased the technology and brought together a team of orthodontists and former InBrace employees to preserve it, support the providers who depended on it, and build something stronger for the future. You can read the full story of how InSmile Braces came to be here.
On August 14, 2025, just months later, InSmile Braces officially reopened for case submissions. That date marked the start of our first year, and we're proud of everything that's happened since.
When we relaunched, our first priority was simple: give providers a system they could rely on again. Our team rebuilt every part of the workflow, from digital Smile Design through manufacturing and customer support, essentially from the ground up.
Within our first three months, we restored:
· Smile Design turnaround times to within 2 business days
· Manufacturing and shipping to within 15 business days after case approval
· Stable, dependable workflows for providers nationwide
Getting operational again was only the first step, but it was the foundation everything else was built on.
Once things were running smoothly, our focus shifted to quality for both product and provider experience. Over the following three months, we made meaningful improvements to Smile Design consistency, manufacturing quality control, and the software infrastructure behind the entire system.
To improve our provider experience, we started rebuilding our commercial team, bringing on a dedicated salesperson and practice consultant to support providers on the ground. We also kicked off beta testing for updated Specialty Smartwires that could handle more difficult clinical situations and for a limited version of InSmile (InSmile 4-4) that can treat simple cases at a more affordable rate for providers and patients.
None of this was about simply restoring what existed before InBrace. It was about building InSmile into a stronger, more capable company for the years ahead.
Our third quarter centered on one of our biggest projects yet: a full redesign of the InSmile Patient Kit. Built with input from both providers and patients, the new kit introduced several upgrades:
· A sleeker package, roughly 35% smaller than before to improve storage capacity in orthodontic offices
· Sequential Smartwire Numbering to simplify the treatment workflow
· Updated home care instructions for patients
· Expanded, more comprehensive treatment instructions for clinical teams
This quarter also brought a milestone moment: our first AAO Annual Session as InSmile Braces. It was genuinely rewarding to reconnect with longtime providers in person and meet new orthodontists who decided to join the InSmile family.
As we headed into our fourth quarter, we turned our attention toward helping providers get even more out of the InSmile system. We launched a new Smartwire Training System with a self-guided video course, so doctors and their teams can learn at their own pace, whenever it works for them.
We also began beta testing an improved Smartwire surface finish and locking spring, aimed at further strengthening Smartwire and bracket integrity.
"This year was never just about getting back to where we were. It was about proving to providers and patients that they could trust us again and building something that could stand on its own for the long term." Dr. Scott Schwartz, Founder & CEO, InSmile Braces
Looking back on the past year, we're grateful to the providers who trusted us during the relaunch, the patients who believed in our vision, and the team who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to rebuild the company piece by piece. We're grateful to the broader orthodontic community for welcoming InSmile Braces with so much enthusiasm.
This first year was about rebuilding. The years ahead are about growing and innovating, and we already have several initiatives in development to improve treatment efficiency, expand clinical capabilities, and make the InSmile experience even better for providers and patients alike.
Thank you for being part of the InSmile journey. We can't wait to show you what's next.
